In reality, readers need reassurance. They need to know that you are somehow qualified to waste their time reading your babble. Let’s face it, there is a LOT of babble on the internet, so this is understandable. However, this system is flawed. This need for reassurance has the ability to bury original thought. Regular people have great ideas all the time, some of them make the mistake of sharing them with the masses only to be verbally berated by doctors, professors, popular comedians, athletes, influencers, and basically anyone subject to idol worship. I’m not saying that a normal person can outsmart a doctor with a medical question, I’m saying the amount of influence you hold does not automatically make you have bright ideas or perfect morality. This is a delicate rant, which I will continue in a separate blog post, but it reveals itself even in the introduction. Perhaps better dialogue could happen if everyone embraced a shade of anonymity.
The hazy part is when fiction becomes represented as fact, another popular thing nowadays, so to a certain degree we need validation from who is presenting the information. I will humbly admit that there is no scientific basis to any of the blog posts I create, everything is purely my own observation, which can be heeded at your own peril (it’s mostly about golf, so don’t worry too much).
All of that being said, my name is Branden. A name that reminds people of the 90’s in America. A name with frosted tips. A name that screams “Bro, why come you cover test answers, bro?” It’s just a name that flows off the tongue with sarcastic hostility. But it’s my name, and I own it.
I am from a place called The Northland, at least that’s what the local news stations call it. It has the geography of Canada, but it’s in America. All you really need to know is that I have at least 6 months of snow on the ground, which is just enough time for me to forget how to swing a golf club and start over with my handicap.
I have been golfing on and off for two decades. I picked up the clubs full-time during quarantine and never looked back, I absolutely love this game, more importantly: I love it more than I hate it. I am an average golfer, quite average. Almost exactly average according to various golfing apps. Regardless, I’ll never stop trying to improve at this game, and I’ll play until my body fails me. This blog is experimental, honestly. I am using it as a tool to understand my own golf game. Sounds pretty shallow, right? Well I believe that there are some crucial parallels to golf and life, and I intend on exploring these parallels, with a little humor and help along the way. Some posts will be favored towards golf, some will be favored towards life aspects reflected in the game. I hope you enjoy!
